Julia and Matt’s wedding at Union Trust in Philadelphia was summer in the city perfection! From their invitations to their classic Philly photo locations, their love for the city was woven throughout the day.
Julia and Matt got married at St. Patrick’s church, which was stunning! As far as grand entrances go, it doesn’t get any grander than Julia’s. As the ceremony started, the massive wooden doors opened to reveal Julia’s small silhouette, framed by daylight as organ music booming off the ceilings.. amazing. You couldn’t help but feel the magnitude of the moment with Matt as he stood down the long aisle waiting for her. I’m telling you, there’s just something about a church wedding.
After the ceremony, we did a little ‘best of Philly’ tour in a trolly for their portrait session. As you’ll see, Matt and Julia’s sweet personalities really shine. They have no trouble making each other laugh. Even in the moments when the camera wasn’t on them, they still had those just-married, best day of my life smiles. What can I say, they’re just really lovely people!
After we hopped around the city for a little while taking portraits we headed to Union Trust ballroom for their wedding reception. Union Trust is really a beautiful building and it kind of matches the grandeur of Saint Patrick’s Church where they got married.
At their reception and throughout the day, they included a lot of details that hinted at their love story together. On their invitations they had the city skyline on the bottom printed in a blue that matched perfectly the bluestone that’s in Julia’s engagement ring, with rose gold lettering that complimented her rose gold rings.
Their wedding cake topper was a little Viking couple, which referenced how they met as well as Julia’s love of Vikings! At the reception we got to hear Matt’s favorite, the Beatles, for some special moments. And, of course, because it’s Julia’s favorite, we got pops of turquoise sprinkled throughout!
I always say it’s the people rather than the setting or the details that make the day a delight, and Julia and Matt definitely made the day just that. Their warmth and lightheartedness made them such a fun couple to work with!
Matt & Julia, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day! I love loved being able to witness the first day of your marriage!
God bless your years together and the journey ahead!
