Scott & Kelly, Blue Heron Wedding

People always ask me if I get a feeling from some couples whether or not they’ll stay together. The truth is, do. I hope all my couples go the distance, but the ones that seem to have that special sauce are the ones who have a genuine regard for one another. I love seeing couples who care about each other, not just in the big moments of the day but in the little gestures of care and concern like I see in Kelly and Scott.

One thing that stood out to me on their wedding day was how heartfelt everything was. I know, you’re thinking that’s literally every couple on their wedding day, but seriously! There is a difference.

You could see it in the way they looked at each other while they exchanged vows and sang the words of their first dance song to each other. Everyone gathered could see there was something special there.

Beyond being a very sweet day, Kelly & Scott’s wedding at Blue Heron was special to me because when I was just getting into photography, Kelly was one of my first senior portraits! Over the years, I’ve even gotten to work with her and Scott together a few times!

It’s always a delight to get to work with people I know personally like Kelly and Scott! Kelly, and more recently Scott, both go to church with me in Bridgeton. I was happy, not only to be shooting a wedding in my hometown, but also to be capturing the start of a marriage between two people who also love Jesus.

After the ceremony at West Park, Kelly and Scott celebrated their wedding reception at Blue Heron Golf Club. The reception space was decorated with blush details and a dash of Disney, which felt very appropriate considering that’s where they got engaged!
