If it isn’t already, it should be an expression that you can’t predict the weather in the summer. The morning of Courtney and Justin’s wedding at Chateau Bu-De, I spent hours refreshing my weather app, trying to find a break in the rain. We never really did find that break, save for a few minutes we stole outside to do portraits.
Fortunately for us though, the mansion at Chateau Bu-De winery was just as perfect a spot as the lovely grounds to work with. The grandness of the rooms lent itself perfectly to the glamorous feel of their wedding day.
I loved spending time with the girls in the morning. As the bridesmaids were getting their makeup done, the flower girls could be found twirling around the ballroom in their tulle dresses. Between the mansion and the stunning dresses Courtney picked for herself and her girls, we had no trouble getting in some beautiful shots before the ceremony. My second, Tracey, assured me things were just as fun over at the distillery with the guys, though the pictures alone were evidence of that!
Their wedding ceremony and reception were held in a spacious tent on the vineyard grounds of Chateau Bu-De, decorated to the gills with beautiful white flower arrangements in gold and crystal. Since their inspiration was the Great Gatsby, tables were topped with white plumes and accented with black and gold details. From their Rolls Royce getaway car to strands of pearls and Art Deco cake, their aesthetics were on point. Even their guests participated, dressing in sequins and fringed skirts. Inside, the rain was all but forgotten as family and friends packed the dance floor till the very last song.
It was a really beautiful evening, made even sweeter by the love between Courtney and Justin and the love they share for their girls. Anyone who sees them together knows they have something special. The day wasn’t about the bride’s side and the groom’s side, it was all about two families coming together around the couple.
Courtney and Justin, thank you for inviting me to capture your wedding day! It was a pleasure getting to know you guys. May there many happy years ahead for you and your sweet family!
