Tara and Dan’s bohemian wedding at Liberti Church in Philadelphia was everything. From the girls getting ready at her house, to outdoor portraits by the Fairmount Park Horticultural Center, to the last moments of the day, Tara and Dan were so natural, so light, so joyful and so in love!
That morning when I got to the house, there were buckets of flowers and spare petals filling the upstairs bedroom as bridesmaid bouquets and arrangements were getting finished up. So. Fun. I loved that the flowers had a wild, effortless look to them and obviously a handmade touch too!
Tara’s look was so bohemian and vintage inspired, yet modern and elegant. Her mom was excited that her and Tara had the same style except she was rocking it in the 70’s and Tara’s bringing it back now! Their bridal party also had a vintage inspired, mix and match look. With their groomsmen and bridesmaids all together they made a wild bunch standing out among the grove of gorgeous trees.
Tara and Dan have a natural chemistry that made them so fun to work with. They make each other laugh and they just adore being in each other’s presence. I always say that you can tell a lot about a couple by what’s happening when no one expects a camera to be around. In their case, the in between moments of their wedding day were dotted with laughter, tears, prayers and heartfelt words.
Another one of my favorite moments happened during their ceremony. While Tara and Dan took communion, a duo played and sang Come Thou Fount on banjo which I loved, not only because it’s an amazing hymn, but because it brought me back to my own wedding day.
Tara and Dan’s bohemian themed wedding day in Philadelphia really stood out to me. They totally nailed the simple-classic thing. They let their bridesmaids pick their own dresses, tables were decorated with kraft paper runners and mixed glass bottle centerpieces, their ceremony and reception were held at their home church, not to mention they had Pretzel Factory pretzels at the reception and BBQ for dinner! It was a-mazing.
Not only did they make the day interesting, creative and personal, but they also made it simple. They struck this really lovely balance of joyful, meaningful, and beautiful all while never losing sight of the main thing; the Christ exalting covenant they were making.
Tara and Dan, thank you so much for inviting me to capture the first day of your forever! Thinking about the adventure you guys are embarking on makes me smile. God bless you in the years ahead, and enjoy these first magical newlywed days!
