Kendra and Jon’s wedding at Congress Hall in Cape May was one I’d been looking forward to all season. I loved following along on Instagram as Kendra put together their wedding day and celebrated her engagement with her friends and family.
A lot of care and planning went into making the day an awesome celebration that their guests would enjoy. One of the ways they did that was to hire an amazing live band for their reception that had everyone on their feet the whole night. They even welcomed their guests who were staying at the hotel with a bag of Cape May style treats: popcorn and candy.
Their wedding was held at nearby St. John Neumann Church where the priest from their home parish came up to perform the ceremony. One of my favorite moments of the day was watching them walk back down the aisle arm in arm after they were pronounced husband and wife.
Before their cocktail hour, we went out on the lawn of Congress Hall to do some group portraits, and the drizzle that had been intermittently falling finally stopped. Their bridal party was probably one of the largest I’ve ever worked with, which was fun because it was a tight knit group that included a lot of Kendra and Jon’s high school and college friends.
By the time we walked around the grounds of Congress Hall to do some wedding portraits of just Kendra and Jon, the sun was peaking through the clouds again. The colonnade outside Congress Hall was such a perfect backdrop with its black shutters and soft yellow facade. Kendra and Jon were so natural and so happy to be together, it made my job easy and really comes through in their portraits. They definitely bring out the best in each other.
The two of them, and their wedding party, fit in so perfectly at Cape May’s Congress Hall. More so than any other South Jersey shore town, Cape May just has this timelessness to it. Kendra and Jon brought that to their wedding in every way. From Kendra’s heirloom details to their wedding party’s all black attire and white flowers, the day was perfectly elegant and classic. Kendra and Jon’s wedding was a beautiful, thoughtful day from start to finish made even sweeter by the love they have for each other and the love and support of their family and friends.
Kendra and Jon, even though the wedding day is over, I hope you are able to relive it a little now. Thank you for inviting me to capture your wedding day! Congratulations again and best wishes for all the happy days to come!
